What is the best internet speed test available? Internet provider has been ripping me off, paying twice as much for speed than they are giving me. I want to compare their bandwith test with another. Any suggestions for an online internet speed test?

I just took an internet speed test, and not sure how to read the results? I just tested my internet speed online and it's saying 2889 Kbit/s for download, and 3278 Kbit/s for upload, and Ping says 21 ms. Can anyone help me out? Also what's ping? Internet speed test results? I have cox high speed internet service. I play World of Warcraft and am getting mega lag. So i did a speed test on my internet. Results from 3 different speed test sites average 1.12Mb/s download and 0.28Mb/s upload. the guy at Cox said that this was what it was supposed to be, problem is i don't know if that's what its supposed to be. Should i be getting a higher score? How to read my internet speed test from speedtest.net? I just got Verizon Fios and I'm supposed to have the 20Mbps/5Mbps internet speed. I don't know what that means though. Internet Speed Test Help!? I am running tests for speed on my internet on multiple sites. They are giving me varied resultsm but one in particular gives me a 4000kbps download speed and a 400kbps upload speed while another gives me 5000kbps download and 5000 kbps upload. Internet speed? Test says 1063 Kbps but every page loads slow! Why is this? I have a wireless satelite connection. My speed is supposed to be 1 MBPS and accorcing to internet speed tests it is the showed 1063 KBPS (Upload speeds are about 55 KBPS) but when surfing the web it literally takes usually about 5 seconds just for yahoo home page to load, sometimes even upwards of 10 seconds! Internet Speed Test Questions? I just did a speed test on speedtest.net and have a few questions. According to the test, my download speed is 742 kb/s and my upload speed is 127 kb/s, which is extremely bad. When I looked up the stats for how fast Verizon DSL can go (my ISP), it says the download can hold a capacity of 9323 kb/s, and an upload of 2437 kb/s, which is a HUGE difference between mine and how fast it can actually go. So my question is - what can I do to fix this? I was thinking it might be the crappy router that Verizon provided for $80. We've had it for over a year. It's the only router Verizon makes. So I was thinking it would be the router's fault for giving such slow speeds. Should I save up and buy a nice router? If so, which one would you recommend that would work best for its money (less than $150, please). By the way, I'm wirelessly hooked up. Does that affect the speed? Internet speed test results are very low, or is this normal? Just wanted to get someones take on this-- I ran a speed test at speedtest.net from my laptop which has an internal wireless card. Came back at 1.29 Mb/s dl .60 upload. I was thinking that this is pretty low so I plugged my laptop in directly to the router and it came back at 20.61 Mb/s dl and .96 upload. I have road runner cable, a newer modem from them, and my laptop normally sits about 3 feet from the router. Router is a linksys BEFW11S4. Also my laptop is a brand new Lenovo T500. Is it normal to have this big of a difference between the two or is something wrong? Lemme know what ya guys think.
