  1. no not really and if ur on a shared network like that trying to mess with it will probably result in u losing ur privileges ..
  2. yeah.. you can buy a signal booster. you're supposed to connect it where the cable enters the house/building from the main line or poll, but i don't see why it wouldn't work if you used your apartments entry point ot hook it up for just your place. they cost like 30 bucks by the way.
  3. There is a program called TCPOptimizer that helps you tweak your Internet settings to get more speed out of it. Try it out at http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
  4. Radio shack ask for signal magnifier it costs $29.99.
  5. You can increase speed for internet connection using a tcp/ip speed increaser. It's a program that changes settings for your internet connection to increase speed. It works really well. Here's the problem, you could do it, but since your whole complex uses the connection, you wouldn't be the only one with increased speed, everyone would experience a SLIGHTLY faster speed. So slightly faster that no one would even notice so it's pointless. I'm sure there is a way to get you faster speed and making everyone elses slower, but you'd have to be a networking wizard to know how to do so. I would check at computerforums.com and ask there. Good luck! The program I'm talking about is the TCPoptimizer that the previous guy listed. But the speed increase isn't that much even for one person using the connection, and if even 3 or more people are using it, the difference is so small there's no point doing it. Not only that, I think that if they have a shared internet, they aren't going to have no security on their internet, there for I dont think the optimizer will be able to adjust the internet connection
