How do I hook a second computer to my existing cable high speed internet?

I am not going wireless, I have a new router and 50' ethernet cable,..but the other computer will not connect to the internet? Why and how can I fix it?

  1. follow the directions on how/when to hook up and turn on power to all devices in the corrrect order. That way each device will be reccognized and you should be all set.
  2. for just 2 PCs you dont need router......just make sure you have Ethernet cards on both pc and u need a single Ethernet (UTP Cat-5) Cross Over cable....just connect both Ethernet cards via cable and you have to run the home/office network wizard on both pc. hope it will help u
  3. This is quite normal at first if you're using a Cable connection. Your router is looking for the original computer that's why it's not connecting. I would like to know the brand of your router. So I can give you instructions on how to set it up. If you have time you can try to call up the manufacturer of your router as well.
