Does the length of a network cable affect internet speed from a cable modem? (50 foot cord)?
I have a cable modem with Comcast service. Once in a very rare while, I want to be able to use my laptop and internet in a different room. Instead of getting a home network or a wireless router for such a rare need, I want to get a 50' cable at a local store that sells them for less than $10.

- It wont effect your speeds, ethernet cables can go 100 meters before they lose signal, you will be more than fine with a 50ft cable.
- The degradation in fifty feet would be so minimal you would never notice it cat 5 is good for at least a hundred feet
- Dear, Use cat 5 media for your purpose it will ok to use cable upto 100 meters.
